Monk's Phunk (Very Nice Brewing Company)

Monk’s Phunk is a darker Belgian ale. I’ve been searching high and low for Belgians this summer, and it took a trip up into the mountains to find it (Nederland). It’s got that nice figgy, plum, caramel flavor of a dubbel, even though they don’t advertise it as such. It’s even got a chewy chocolatey taste on the back end, which is much better than the bitter punch of other summer beers. One of the reasons I traveled out of Colorado Springs for a beer this weekend is because I was at my wits end on a Friday afternoon looking for an inspiring beer to try out. After looking through the menus of the COS breweries, I was very uninspired and made the trip up north. After a short hike with Vinny, I was very happy to see that the beer here has met all of my expectations.

Such a great crowd too. Mellow, laid back, friendly, and just what I needed after spending too many months in the military industrial complex and evangelical capital of Colorado Springs.

A dog that appreciates a good beer in Colorado.

About Me

I'm a fan of beer, and so is Vinny (my dog). We love our local breweries and probably spend too much time thinking about their brews. I'm happy to be your unofficial guide to Colorado Springs beer. I hope you enjoy our taproom tales!
