Metric Brewing is smack dab in the center of town. It’s just north of the up and coming Knob Hill arts district, situated in a shopping center off of Circle and Uinta. There’s a great variety of beer on tap here, from the standards IPAs to Belgian dubbels and trippels, to stouts and sours. I always check in to their website to see what’s on tap, and they keep it up to date, including how much of a specific beer is in supply. I think it fits the definition of a neighborhood hangout, with dogs and kids welcome (and well behaved). They also promote local artists, which is a plus, especially since their bordering Knob Hill. Even their merchandise (shirts, hats, etc.) have an artistic touch. There’s an outdoor patio which always a foodtruck sitting outside. They have ready-made crowlers of their most popular beers, which makes it easy to get some to-go beer.

I do like the vibe. It has a good energy with a mix of young and old: not too many hipsters and not too many old curmudgeons complaining about the price of eggs. They’re usually busy, but not so packed that you can’t hear yourself think. There’s a good view of Pikes Peak out the front window, even though it can get obscured by the bright ball of fire that is blinding as it sets. Even though this is one of the farthest breweries from my house, I still make a trip once or twice a month--it's well worth the trip. (Image credit: Metric Brewing.)

A dog that appreciates a good beer in Colorado.

About Me

I'm a fan of beer, and so is Vinny (my dog). We love our local breweries and probably spend too much time thinking about their brews. I'm happy to be your unofficial guide to Colorado Springs beer. I hope you enjoy our taproom tales!
