Cerberus Brewing: The Rouge Belgian Dubbel

I love Belgian beers, so it’s no surprise that I’d review this one. The rouge refers to the cherries added to this dubbel, which is extraordinary. The smell of this one…sorry…”the nose” of this one grabbed me right away. You can smell the cherries right off the bat. The taste is phenomenal. It’s got the classic dubbel body—a little caramel, fig, and boozy, but the cherries put it over the top. You don’t drink this beer, you chew on it a bit. I’ve had many Belgian dubbels, but this one has to rank among the best. I’ve reviewed an IPA from Cerberus, but never one of their Belgians—I didn’t know what I was missing.

Now, this beer comes in at 8.6% ABV and 8 bucks per 10oz pour, so you can’t really belly up to the bar and have a few of these (even though I’d really like to), but I wouldn’t pass up at least a taste of this one. I think it might be limited, so if you’re in town in February of 2025, you’re in luck! They also have a tripel, which is a stronger but lighter beer, so that’s on my list for the next visit.

About Me

I'm a fan of beer, and so is Vinny (my dog). We love our local breweries and probably spend too much time thinking about their brews. I'm happy to be your unofficial guide to Colorado Springs beer. I hope you enjoy our taproom tales!
